Mike Hinchey ist Präsident der IFIP (2016-2022), Professor für Software Engineering und Leiter des Fachbereichs Informatik & Informationssysteme an der University of Limerick, Irland. Bevor er an die Universität kam, war Professor Hinchey Direktor des NASA Software Engineering Laboratory.  Er wurde mit dem Kerley Award der NASA als Innovator des Jahres ausgezeichnet und ist einer von nur 36 Personen, die in die NASA Inventors Hall of Fame aufgenommen wurden. Er hat einen B.Sc. in Computer Systems von der University of Limerick, einen M.Sc. in Computation von der University of Oxford und einen PhD in Computer Science von der University of Cambridge. Er ist ehemaliger Vorsitzender der IEEE UK & Ireland Section und Präsident der Irish Computer Society. Er ist Chefredakteur von Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering: a NASA Journal und Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society. Er ist Honorary Fellow der Computer Society of India und war der SEARCC Global ICT Professional of the Year 2018.
