Ensuring Sustainability and Interoperability in the Artificial Intelligence-enabled Cyber-Physical Systems (SIAI-CPS) 2021

Call for Paper

The SIAI-CPS 2021 workshop addresses the broad issues of sustainability and interoperability in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) in the context of recent developments in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from a technical, business, ecological, and social perspective. The main goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, present and discuss their most recent achievements and lessons learned addressing the challenging topic of ensuring Sustainability and Interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs.

By using heterogeneous sensors, embedded computational intelligence and various communication mechanisms, the CPSs, complemented with the Internet of Things (IoT) and AI technologies, drive the digital transformation in science, practice, and society. Through its data-driven predictive analytics and capacity to assist in decision-making in highly complex scenarios and distributed (industrial) environments, the advances in AI bring new opportunities to realize the vision of sustainable CPSs. However, this vision can be achieved if interoperability is ensured. Ensuring sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs brings numerous challenges, and a research agenda which covers theory, practice, and use cases tackling ecological, economic, social, and technological aspects is missing.

This workshop aims at addressing this gap. SIAI-CPS seeks to provide researchers and practitioners a forum to exchange information on theories, emerging technologies, tools and practical experiences towards ensuring sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs. Besides providing a mix of technical and business presentations, this workshop will include a keynote and a panel discussion.

The SIAI-CPS 2021 workshop encourages the submission of papers presenting novel research and development work on technical, business, and social related aspects on sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs. This workshop particularly values the practical experience in designing methods and deploying tools and ICT infrastructures to support sustainable and interoperable AI-enabled CPSs.

TOPICS of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Methods and frameworks for ensuring sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs;
  • Strategies and strategic decisions for ensuring sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs and their implications, e.g., concerning performance improvement, optimal resources utilization;
  • Tools supporting sustainability and interoperability in the AI-enabled CPSs, with application in different domains, e.g., autonomous driving, manufacturing, digital healthcare, smart grid, smart city, education;
  • Key performance indicators and performance analysis for sustainable and interoperable AI-enabled distributed industrial environments.
