Prof. Dr. Tilman Santarius

Professor for Social Transformation and Sustainable Digitalization, TU Berlin & ECDF

Tilman Santarius is scientific author and writes on topics such as digital transformation, global justice, climate policy, world trade, and  sustainable economics. He has studied sociology, anthropology and economics and accomplished a PhD in social science. During his studies, he jobbed for Greenpeace and Kienbaum Management Consultants Ltd. From 2001-2009 he served as Senior Research Fellow at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. From 2009-2011 he was Head of International Climate and Energy Policy at the Heinrich Boell Foundation. Between 2012 and 2015 Tilman wrote a PhD thesis at the University of Kassel. During the academic year 2013/2014, he was Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 2016, Tilman heads a Junior Research Group on “Digitalization and Sustainability” at the Technical University of Berlin and the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW). Since 2017, Tilman is professor for Social Transformation and Sustainable Digitalization at Berlin’s Einstein Centre Digital Future. As of voluntary work, Tilman served as member of the board to the NGO Germanwatch between 2007-2016. Since 2016, he is member of the board of Greenpeace Germany.
