Silvia Brinkmann was born in 1966 in Dresden and grew up in Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. After graduating from high school in 1984, she studied linguistics and literature (English/Slavic studies) at the University of Rostock. Since graduating, she has been a certified teacher of English and Russian, first at a secondary school and since 2003 at the regional school "Heinrich Schütz" in Rostock. Since 2008 she has also been the head of the foreign languages department.
From 2009 to 2011, she studied computer science as a minor subject, then was a subject teacher for computer science and now teaches computer science and media education.
Since 2013 she has been team leader of grades 7/8 and 9/10 respectively and works as a member of the school management.
