Giuseppe De Giacomo's area of expertise is artificial intelligence. His main research area is knowledge representation and automated reasoning. He has contributed to several topics in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, including Description Logics, Ontologis, Data Management, View-based Query Processing, Data Integration, Reasoning about Actions, Situation Calculus, Generalized Forms of AI Planning, cognitive robotics, AI-based manufacturing, smart spaces and Internet of Things, business process modeling, verification and synthesis of KR-based systems, logic of programs, temporal logic, fixed point logic, service composition and integration, data-based process modeling and analysis. He is an AAAI Fellow, ACM Fellow, and EurAI Fellow.
