Dr. Andrea Gassmann

Deputy Head of Institute and Head of Department "Digitization of Resources" (a.i.)

Andrea Gassmann studied materials science at the Technical University of Darmstadt and completed her doctorate at the same department on the topic of cathode materials for organic light-emitting diodes. Between 2010 and early 2015, she headed the "Organic Electronics" working group at TU. Dr. Gassmann then moved to the Fraunhofer Institute for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategy IWKS in Hanau and Alzenau, where she held various positions. Since July 2020, she has been deputy institute director of Fraunhofer IWKS and is currently also a.i. responsible for the department "Digitization of Resources". In addition to the development of intelligent, digitally supported recycling technologies for complex material flows, Circular Economy concepts are also developed here, and holistic process modeling and evaluation based on technical and sustainability criteria are offered.
