Marina Köhn

Advisory office for sustainable information and communication technology (Green-IT) - Federal Environment Agency

Marina Köhn is a computer scientist and has worked at the Federal Environment Agency since 1992. Her work focuses on environment-related system comparisons, particularly in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). As a computer scientist, she became interested early on in the environmental impact of IT itself. These considerations have given rise to research projects that identify the potential for environmental protection in ICT and design environmental policy action alternatives to activate it. It advises the German government on issues relating to green IT and incorporates research findings into environmental policy instruments. The Blue Angels for data centers, software and other IT products were also created as part of this activity.
