Marie Kochsiek

Software Developer & Sociologist

As a software developer and sociologist, Marie Kochsiek is particularly interested in the intersections between society, technology and sexual health.

During her social science studies, she worked on menstrual cycle tracking apps from a qualitative perspective. As a Research Fellow at the Weizenbaum Institute Berlin, she conducted research together with Marie Dietze on the potentials of open hardware in the context of sexual health.

Since 2016, Marie Kochsiek has been working as a software developer and is engaged in informal open knowledge transfer of net-political issues and digital autonomy, also as an association member of the feminist hackspace Heart of Code e.V..

In 2017, she co-founded the drip app team. The development of this open source and free menstrual cycle tracking app has been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Mozilla Foundation.
